Russia says to slap 30% export duty on some sunflower products soon

MOSCOW, Dec 9 (PRIME) – Russia will soon introduce a 30% prohibitive duty on exports of sunflower products to protect its market, where the harvest was low, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov told reporters on Wednesday.

"I think tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, it has been already submitted for signing by the prime minister,” he said.

“Export duties on some products of sunflower seeds will be introduced. The products must not be exported to protect the local market."

Last week the Agriculture Ministry said that a subcommission supported export duties of 30% on sunflower and rapeseeds, but no less than 265 euros per tonne.
